This case study documents the development of an emergency housing solution at the West Los Angeles VA Campus, tracking our analysis from initial court mandates through implementation planning. Our methodology begins with a systematic review of primary source documents: two key court filings from October 2024 (a five-page Plaintiffs' Status Update and an 80-page hearing transcript) along with the VA campus master plan and site maps.
Using artificial intelligence tools from Google and Anthropic, we analyze these materials to understand the court's requirements, evaluate site constraints, and develop implementation strategies. The case study demonstrates how AI assistance can help parse complex requirements, visualize solutions, and create detailed project planning tools - from timeline management to infrastructure analysis.
Through this lens, we examine how modern technology can help address urgent social needs while navigating institutional and regulatory requirements. The study provides insights valuable for similar rapid-deployment housing initiatives, particularly on federal properties with complex stakeholder relationships.
